Context For Creation
The conductor of the Young Conservatorium Brass Ensemble, Ysolt Clark, asked if I would write a work for
the group. A short, fanfare like piece was her request and I set about sketching and scoring within a
day and had the work finished within two days.

No responses other than a considerate 'thank you' from the conductor were given or expected. Admittedly,
some of the players told me they 'liked' the piece and enjoyed playing it.
Reflections
I like the piece too. It has the vigour and vitality that grabs both player and audience. I have begun
rescoring it for concert band and I think it will be a very effective concert opener or the like. It
will be for a senior high school group I would think.
