Reflections
This is such a different work for me in both its genesis and in the demands I place on all the sections - almost a concertino for the band. I can remember when I wrote this I was so terribly busy and most of it was written sitting on the 345 bus going to and from work at Queensland Conservatorium - or while waiting for that bus. I enjoy conducting this and listening to it. There is an effervescence here and a multiplicity in the presentation of ideas, but, an economy of ideas in fact. The scoring is effective and the melodic material appealing.
